Agreement to avoid double-taxation Mexico-Colombia

On July 11th, the Decree of the Agreement between the United Mexican States and the Republic of Colombia to avoid double taxation and prevent income-tax evasion, signed in Bogot�, Colombia on August 13th, 2009, the ?Agreement?, was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF). This publication completes the procedure to enforce the Agreement.

The Agreement is a joint effort between the governments of both countries in order to:

  • Avoid double taxation;
  • Prevent of tax evasion;
  • Exchange information, and;
  • Obtain mutual assistance in tax collection.

The Agreement applies to income taxes of the residents in any contracting State. The Agreement is mainly directed to revenue associated to: maritime and air transport; dividend; interest; royalties; pensions; among others.

The Agreement entered into force on the date of its publication: July 11th, 2013.
