Alejandra joined the firm in 2024 at the Mexico City office.

Prior to joining Ramos Ripoll & Schuster, she served as Deputy Director of Legal Oversight in the Banking, Securities, and Savings Unit of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, participating in projects relevant to the Mexican financial system, such as the licensing of the Institutional Securities Exchange (BIVA) and the drafting of the Fintech Law.

In the private sector, she worked as an attorney at diversified financial companies, handling the legal drafting of various contracts in accordance with operational and regulatory requirements. She also served in the trust department at Banco del Bajío, strengthening her knowledge of the legal and operational framework of Mexico’s financial system.

As an independent attorney, she handled the registration of currency exchange centers, money transmitters, and savings and loan cooperatives with the National Banking and Securities Commission.

Luz Areli Sandoval Aguirre holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Universidad del Valle de México. She joined Ramos, Ripoll & Schuster in 2024 as part of the Immigration practice group within the Corporate & Business team at the firm’s Guadalajara office.

Areli is a member of the Corporate & Business team, focusing her practice on immigration law (Mexico).

Formación Académica

Throughout her professional career, Areli worked at the National Institute of Migration as a Federal Migration Agent in the Migration Regulation Division.

In that role, she participated in activities related to immigration counseling, the receipt and analysis of immigration applications, the adjudication of proceedings, and the drafting of immigration rulings and official correspondence, while continuously studying and staying up to date on immigration legislation in Mexico.

As part of her academic and professional training, she has completed various certificate programs offered by the National Human Rights Commission, focusing on human rights, the administration of justice, and the protection and defense of human rights.

Throughout her academic and professional career, she has gained experience in criminal law and energy law, particularly in the areas of electric power and infrastructure projects. Her work has focused on drafting legal documents, regulatory analysis, and comprehensive support in regulatory and public procurement processes.

Andrea assists in drafting contracts—including hedging agreements, distributed generation PPAs, and agreements for the supply and sale to third parties—as well as agreements and other legal instruments. She provides support in addressing clients’ legal inquiries, monitoring and ensuring compliance with obligations before the CNE, and conducting daily reviews of the OPE, DOF, and CONAMER.

She has contributed to Unsolicited Proposals, prepared legal feasibility analyses of properties for leases aimed at the construction of industrial parks, drafted newsletters, and provided support on infrastructure projects and public procurement processes.

Criminal Law Intern (2023–2024). Performed tasks such as reviewing agreements, transcribing hearings, filing documents with the court clerk’s office, organizing and filing case files, assisting with the drafting of legal briefs, and dealing directly with authorities.
